The Patriots have announced today, that they are resigning 28 year-old Austin Collie, who had previously signed with the team earlier in the season.
Collie signed here in late September, but after just five weeks and three games, the Patriots opted to move on from him. The Patriots have brought him back probably to be another option because both Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson have just recently ended up on the injury list.
Though Thompkins practiced today, he is still going through a hip injury. Dobson is suffering from some sort of foot injury he injured against the Broncos.
So, the signing of Collie may just be a little insurance, but I previously wrote an article on how the Patriots should rest some players against the Browns and the next game in Miami. Having Collie just may allow the Patriots to do just that, or it could be like the first stint when he was used very sparingly.
Collie should be in the fold either way when the Patriots take on the Browns Sunday at home.
