John Harbaugh told reporters that his team “didn’t have enough juice” after having to play Monday Night football against the Detroit Lions last week. The Ravens returned home after a hard fought battle against the Lions and then the Patriots came in and dusted them 41-7.
This is the kind of thing that pisses me off about the Ravens. You control your own destiny with a win on the last two weeks of the season and you didn’t have enough “juice?” If you don’t have enough motivation when your playoff future is on the line then when will you ever? Every ‘expert’ picked you to win so you probably should have won.
This is consistent with what the Ravens do and that’s giving the Patriots, or their opponents, little to no credit for beating them. The last drive consisted of nine plays for the Patriots in which all nine were runs. By the way, the offensive line for the Patriots was down two of their starters and had a rookie at left guard and eight of those nine runs went left. That isn’t having a lack of juice my friend, that’s your team having a lack of will.
There is no doubt that when you play on Monday or Thursday, you have a disadvantage in preparation, but the numbers suggest that it hasn’t had an impact much on the results of the games. Harbaugh is 3-3 in his career after Monday night road games. The rest of the league is 16-15 this season after playing on Monday night.
The Patriots always credit the team that beats them and I don’t see that from the Ravens. I wrote an article this past offseason that expressed that I think the Ravens are a one-and-done team and it looks like I may have nailed it as the Ravens need a win and some help to make the playoffs this year.
