The Boston Red Sox have made some roster moves this week by signing Burke Badenhop earlier in the week and signing Mike Carp, Junichi Tazawa and Jonathan Herrera yesterday.

The right-handed reliever Badenhop was acquired by Boston and announced on Wednesday night by the team. The 2.15 million dollar deal agreed upon is not guaranteed. Badenhop made 63 appearances in the closer role for Milwaukee, who traded him to Boston for minor league pitcher Luis Ortega.

First baseman Mike Carp and the Red Sox agreed to a 1.4 million dollar deal. Carp offers rest and a backup for Mike Napoli in case of injury.

Herrera was traded to the Boston Red Sox from Colorado last month in exchange for pitcher Franklin Morales. Herrera is an infielder that will surely be insurance for Middlebrooks in case the Red Sox look to trade him. Herrera’s deal is worth 1.3 million.

Lastly, the Red Sox signed Junichi Tazawa for 1.275 million dollars. Tazawa appeared in a career-high 71 games for Boston and had an ERA of 3.16. Tazawa was a good option out of the bullpen for the Red Sox to set up their closers.

Miller and the Red Sox are scheduled to an arbitration hearing in early February as the Red Sox only raised Miller’s salary 80,000 dollars. Boston offered 1.55 million dollars, but Miller wanted to land on a figure closer to 2.15 million.

The Red Sox seem to have some health concerns even though sources close to the situation say Miller is 100 percent healthy. If the two sides can’t come to an agreement, then the arbitrator will land on a fair figure and could be the midpoint between the two sides, which is 1.85 million.
