The Boston Celtics lost on Wednesday night to the Philadelphia 76ers on a buzzer beater from Evan Turner. Tom Heinsohn pointed out on the last possession that Michael Carter-Williams was called for palming the basketball when he crossed half-court. Palming is basically NBA lingo for double-dribble. If the referees made the palming call, Turner wouldn’t have had a chance to knock the game winner and the Celtics would’ve walked out of the game winners.
In my opinion, I think that it was a palming violation that the referees clearly missed and it isn’t the first time that the referees made a bad call that costed the Celtics a game. Two weeks ago against the Lakers, the referees reviewed and still missed an out of bounds call on a jump ball which resulted in the Celtics losing to the Lakers.
