As the Bruins streak came to a close, shoot-out fashion, last evening against the Montreal Canadiens, there was a separate storyline between Milan Lucic and Alexei Emelin. Emelin went low on Lucic within the first two minutes of the game on a legal check and Lucic had some harsh words for Emelin after the game:

“Whether it’s fair, legal or whatever you want to call it, if he wasn’t scared, he would stand up and hit me and not go after my knees,” Lucic said. “It just shows how big of a chicken he is that he needs to go down like that to take me down. It shows what kind of player he is, and on my end, you know you’ve got to keep your guard up at all times.”

Chara then came to the defense of Lucic, which landed him in the box setting up a power play for Montreal. The Bruins penalty kill prevailed, Emelin ended up scoring the first goal of the game later on in the first period after a bogus cross-checking penalty on Miller that lead to offsetting fighting majors.

Later on, Lucic seemingly skates by Emelin and gives him a stick in nads, which Lucic was then asked about:

“Just skating by him and that’s all,” Lucic said. “People are trying to say I speared him. I did not spear him, so that’s it.”

That’s clearly a lie as the video pretty easily caught it and it makes Lucic look a little dumb and immature. There’s definitely a reason Emelin went low on Lucic this time around and maybe it has something to do with the game on April 6th of last year between the Bruins and the Habs.

Enjoy Bruins fans on this day of sorrow:
