Despite the basketball aspect of the Celtics appear to be done for the season, there are still important dates to remember for all of Celtics nation. For a change, tanking fans and anti-tanking fans can mark the same important events coming up for the Celtics that will get them both equally excited. The Celtics still have five games remaining left on their schedule in the regular season, but we can look forward to what’s going to be in store in the coming months while we are out golfing for the summer:
April 16th – Last Game of the Regular Season
April 19th – Playoffs Begin (Not Applicable in Boston)
April 27th – NBA Draft Early Entry Eligibility Deadline (11:59 p.m. EST)
May 20th – NBA Draft Lottery
June 16th – NBA Draft Early Entry Withdrawal Deadline (5 p.m. EST)
June 26th – NBA Draft
In between the draft lottery and the draft itself, the Celtics will be very busy with all of the pre-draft workouts to determine how to use all of their picks efficiently. There will be quite a large commodity of college and international athletes coming to Waltham for all of the workouts and I’ll do my absolute best to bring you all of the information that you need to know.
In July, the Celtics will be active in the Summer League and the exact dates are yet to be determined. The Celtics may be playing all of their Summer League games back down in Orlando like last summer from what I’ve last heard around the water cooler. Brad Stevens has made plans for certain players this summer and we should expect some serious fine-tuning with the player development heading into next season. Kelly Olynyk, Phil Pressey, Chris Babb and Chris Johnson are expected to play in the Summer League.
Anything can happen in a basketball offseason and the Celtics will be very busy for sure. Keep these dates in mind Celtics fans and a bright future isn’t a long way off.
